Downgates. Warbleton, Sussex

Home to Samuel Dallaway in the 1700's, together with David Dallaway and Family in the mid 1800's.

The 1851 census shows that the occupants were:

David Dallaway age 48 Farmer, his wife Philadelphia age 36, daughters  Betsy age 12, Sophia age 15, Mary age 4, Hannah age 3 months, and sons Benjamin age 10 and Daniel age 7. Brother David Dallaway age 42 a farm assistant was also present.

The map is dated 1880. Downgates Farm is slightly left of centre. It is believed to be about half of its original size, the other half having been taken down and reconstructed elsewhere by a departing family member

The property was for sale in 2013 for £1.35M.
